Beauty, Basic

(Tocca Cleopatra candle, Bio Oil, By Terry Or De Rose Baume Precieux, Clarins beauty flash balm and daily energising cream gel, Ren Moroccan rose otto sugar body polish, Bobbi Brown luminous moisturising foundation in 4.5 warm natural, NARS lipstick in 'casablanca')

Considering the fact that I spend more time deliberating between moisturisers and primers than clothes, it only seems fitting to post some of my most recent beauty forages on here as well.

I use either Aveda's tourmaline charged exfoliating cleanser (daily) or St Ives invigorating peach scrub (every few days) before applying any make-up and follow up with a base of Bio-Oil (strange, I know; but it evens out skin tone and hydrates my skin no end). I then use either Clarins beauty flash balm (for heavier, evening make-up) or Clarins daily energising gel (for a minimal make-up look) and immediately apply the rest of my 'face'.

After a recent visit to my beauty Mecca (Space NK.. where else) I came across a product which is totally new to me but I can already see it being in my make-up bag for years to come; By Terry Or De Rose Baume Precieux. At first I was blown away by its hefty £49 price tag (for just 12ml.. no this is not a joke), but as soon as I applied it as a highlighter I was instantly amazed. Its the perfect mix of a glossy balm with pearlised glitter. Pictures do not do it justice! Even though its meant to be used around the lips, I'm no stranger to applying products intended for such purposes to my temples and cheekbones (lip gloss being my staple favourite). All in all I'd say its worth the price when applied correctly to nourished skin but added on top of any cakey make-up is a definite no-no!

I also invested in a tub of Ren rose otto body polish which is a luxurious alternative to my home-made daily body exfoliant devised from coconut oil and sugar with a few drops of tea tree oil. I'm sure I'll one day end up like a haggard old prune from my excessive body scrubbing, but I just love it to much to stop!

"Every Man's Birthday"

(Romwe double zip leather bag, Topshop leopard print heels, Crabtree and Evelyn India Hicks candle, Antique Indian gold necklace)

Just a few new year splurges. I Finally got the Romwe bag after months of waiting for it to come back in stock but the quality's not so brill; a bit of a letdown there. The heels are leopard print and pony skin so it was only a matter of time until I bought them, and the necklace is one of the latest finds from my mums jewellery box.

I wasn't so happy about the quality of the pictures in some of my previous posts so have had to delete them for now, but I'll try and recapture some of the moments when I get my new camera. No more lying to myself that the slr was okay so I'm back to the ixus for a while!

Best of 2011

So 2011 was quite clearly my year of jet setting (and dramatic hair cuts)! I started off with a uni trip to New York Citaay which took me to my mecca; Dash. As well as loads of other amazing places, then I spent a month in Sri Lanka and Singapore over easter and I've most recently returned from some pre-Christmas sun worshipping in Mauritius. With all of that plus second year uni fun and moving into my new house, 2012 has a lot to live up to!
